1989年美加自由贸易协定生效,1993年底又把协定的适用范围扩大到包括墨西哥在内的整个北美地区。北美自由贸易协定的生效,是世界经济领域区域化趋势的又一重要标志。区域贸易自由化对区域内部各国无疑会产生重要的经济影响,而影响程度及方向又在很大程度上取决于跨国公司经营策略行为变化。
The entry into force of the 1989 Free Trade Agreement between the United States and Canada expanded the scope of the agreement to cover the entire North American region, including Mexico, by the end of 1993. The entry into force of the North American Free Trade Agreement is another important sign of the trend of regionalization in the world economy. Regional trade liberalization will undoubtedly have important economic impact on all countries in the region, and the extent and direction of the impact depend largely on changes in the operational strategies and behaviors of multinational corporations.
