受邀访问或参加美国白宫的活动,对不少人来说是无上荣耀的事儿。因此,离开时不顺手带走点儿什么,总觉得对不起难得的白宫行。于是,能拿什么拿什么、能拿多少拿多少便成为一些人的心态,以便留作纪念或炫耀的资本。而对于这些“小偷小摸”行为,白宫可谓头疼不已。有贼惦记,防不胜防白宫多数被顺走的物件倒不太值钱,例如盥洗室印有总统印章的毛绒毛巾、白宫为一些大型宴会从外面租来的便宜汤匙。当然,也有些较值钱,像镀金的鹰状席次牌、小的银汤匙或是女盥洗室壁灯上的雕花玻璃饰品。
Being invited to visit or participate in the activities of the White House in the United States is a supremely honorable thing for many people. Therefore, when leaving do not easily take away something, I always feel sorry for the White House line.
