用进口的一串红种子生产盆花,株型整齐,花色艳丽。然而进口花种太贵,生产成本高。近几年,我们反复实验,使用普通一串红种子,用7周左右的时间生产出了优质盆花,不少人看后都以为是用进口花种培育的。据我们观察,用普遍种子培育的一串红,从小苗到第一串花序出现,约需10～14对叶片的生长过程,也就是说普通种与进口种的最大差异便是从营养生长到生殖生长所经历的时间比较长,个体差异大,且在第一串花序出现之前,如不打顶,腋芽基本不萌发或萌而不长。要想使其株形低矮、紧凑,必须进行多次打顶整枝。而打顶整枝后萌发的枝条又太多,势必影响花序的长度和花色的艳丽程度及整体观赏效果。
