水稻稻瘟病是上海郊区水稻生产上主要病害之一,尤以优质和特色米的未改良品种发生更烈。据1988年对武香粳1号和铁桂丰两品种的调查,穗瘟发病率重病田在50%以上,宝山罗泾乡有一农户的近半亩铁桂丰,稻瘟发生率在90%,基本上失收。故是影响水稻稳产的重要因素之一。通过栽培措施和喷洒杀菌剂可以防治稻瘟病,但收效不大,而且费工,增加农本和污染环境、因此,培育和应用抗瘟品种是防治稻瘟病的最有效途径。SX0832就是应用软X射线对具有香味、优质、抗瘟性弱的香粳203品种进行辐射处理,对其后代筛选得到的新品
