In April 1995, Japan's first basic law on science and technology, the Basic Law on Science and Technology, was submitted to this session of the Diet for consideration by the “science and technology and policy meeting” of the non-partisan parliamentarians. The matter has been closely watched by the Japanese government departments, industry, science and technology.
