Japan’s Economy From Miracles to Recession Historically, no country in the world has seen rapid economic transition as Japan did in 1953-1973. In just 20 years Japan transformed itself from an agricultural economy to the world’s largest steel and automobile exporter and Tokyo became the world’s largest and most vibrant cosmopolitan city.
