焉耆垦区是新疆春小麦主要产区之一。解放后,我师来到这里,开辟农场,垦荒生产。为了适应农场生产的需要,我所(前农二师试验站)收集了当地春小麦农家品种,经过整理、纯化、鉴定,选出了焉耆黑芒(农家混合品种),但因感锈严重,(?)倒伏,故产量极不稳定,品质也不够好。于是,一九五二年,我所在大量引种的同时,开始了小麦杂交育种工作,经过九年的辛勤劳动,一九六○年终于育成了硬粒春小麦“解放二号”,对我师小麦生产起了很大作用。现在该品种已推广到南北疆各地及兄弟省区,亦都表现了不同程度的增产。

Now the breed has been extended to all parts of the northern and southern Xinjiang and brother provinces, also showed different levels of yield.
