Barrett’s esophagus (BE) is a special intestinal metaplasia of esophageal columnar epithelium that is a precancerous lesion of esophageal adenocarcinoma. Chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may develop into BE and esophageal adenocarcinoma. It has become common practice to perform BE screening of these patients with endoscopy of the digestive tract, but its usefulness is still unclear. BE occurs more often than younger
