随着环境法规定日益严格和燃料费上漲,对熔炼过程产生高浓度SO_2烟气和消耗最少的能量问题越来越引起人们的重视。尽管可以用各种方法进行熔炼,但要使烟气SO_2浓度最高,又使所耗的能量最少,唯一的办法是增加用氧量。国际镍公司闪速熔炼法产出的烟气SO_2浓度最高,能量消耗最低,因为用氧量最多。中间工厂试验是把氧气閃速熔炼技术应用到一个更小的熔炼炉中,在该炉內同时进行熔炼和吹炼而不需要燃料。
