湖北日报自七月半以后,就以报道和动員抗旱斗爭为突出的中心任务。今年全省抗旱的特点是:規模大、速度快、效果好,广大抗旱干部和抗旱大軍信心百倍,愈战愈强。报紙报道的特点是:抓得早、抓得广、抓得比較透。七月中旬,旱象刚露苗头,省委就发出了开展抗旱防旱斗爭的紧急指示。报紙針对部分干部的麻痹情緒和侥幸心理,发表了“战胜干旱,确保丰收”的社論。指出了侥幸心理的危险性。接着就从以下几个方面进行报道:(一)全面加强領导,突出抗旱中心,防旱、抗旱要一齐抓好,确保水稻、棉花丰收;

In mid-July, when drought was just emerging, the provincial party committee issued an emergency directive to fight drought and drought.
