To investigate the effects of chronic exposure to sublethal doses of lead and the health and immune components of both male and female zebra finches with or without high calcium diet. 60 zebra fin, male and female, were randomly divided into control group, lead exposure group with drinking water and lead exposure group without drinking water. Lead levels in the kidney and bone of zebra fin lead significantly increased, whereas calcium deficiency significantly increased this effect. Lead does not affect such as hematocrit, spleen mass and individual weight health index, does not affect the adrenal response. Through the evaluation of delayed hypersensitivity of hemagglutinin, lead exposure also had no effect on cellular immune response. On the other hand, lead exposure significantly inhibited secondary humoral immune responses in female zebra fin anti-sheep erythrocytes, but only in the calcium-free group. This effect was not seen in male birds, suggesting that gender differences exist in the susceptibility of zebra fin to humoral immune responses to lead exposure.
