During the war of resistance against Japan, there was a comic book artist who used cartoons to actively carry out anti-Japanese propaganda activities in the enemy rear. His name was Xu Ling. Xu Ling, a native of Tianjin, studied early in Hebei Provincial Normal School and later admitted to the Peking Academy of Fine Arts. After the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, he went underground to Tianjin as a primary schoolteacher. After being reported by the traitors, he was forced to take a boat south to seek refuge. Shortly after arriving in Shantou, it was detained by the Kuomintang authorities and rescued from operation after being released from operation.
