五千公里编织长沙路网经2001年全国第二次公路普查统计,长沙市公路总里程5051.315公里,其中,国养公路里程1602公里;县乡公路3195.19公里;高速公路97.63公里。另外,路基宽度4.5米以下的简易村道9718.49公里未纳入汇总里程。路网密度按国土面积计算,每百平方公里拥有公路里程42.8公里,长沙市的路网密度比湖南省高出36.79%;比全国高出144.57%。长沙市公路管理局辖长沙、望城、浏阳、宁乡、城郊五个县(郊)公路管理局,103个道班,直接管理国养公路1602公里。历经半个多世纪的努力,长
