OBJECTIVE To tackle the solubility issue addressed in mitoxantrone formulation analysis.METHODS Mitoxantrone standards from different resources were characterized by the following tests: ① XRPD(X ray powder diffraction);② TG (thermogravimetry);③ DSC (differential scanning calorimetry);④ I R (infrared spectroscopy).RESULTS AND CONCLUSION According to TG and DSC results, mitoxantrone standards had different crystal forms.The change of mitoxantrone crystal forms during shipment may lead to the significant solubility loss in formulation analysis.The crystal structure checking is necessary to ensure the consistency of test article/reference standard before formulation analysis.
