看了去年12月22日人民日报刊登的《一个欺世盗名的骗局——关于通讯〈“他没沾临漳半点光”〉严重失实的调查》一组报道,颇感震惊。象这样与事实截然相悖的报道,在近几年来的新闻失实事例中,确是不多见的。原河北临漳县委书记蔡成功,不但包庇儿子犯罪,而且自己也有许多违法乱纪行为,这样的人,竟被宣传成“自觉维护党性原则,坚决抵制不正之风”的正面典型。人民日报在处理这一失实报道时,采取了严肃认真的态度,表
I was shocked to read a report by People’s Daily on December 22 last year, entitled “A Report of Fraudulent Alias - A Survey of Serious Inaccurate Communities” (“He Had Not Smeared Linzhang’s Light”). Reports such as this contradict the truth, indeed, are rare in the news stories of recent years. Cai Chenggong, former secretary of Hebei Linzhang County Party Committee, not only guilty of crimes committed by his son, but also committed many acts of violating the law and discipline. Such people were actually proclaimed as positive examples of “conscientiously defending the principle of party spirit and resolutely opposing unhealthy tendencies.” People’s Daily took a serious and cautious attitude in handling this false report
