Agricultural scientists in Hawaii, the United States, use bagasse to formulate a new type of shrimp feed. The preparation method is that the bagasse is smashed first, then the protein, the fat and the mineral are mixed together, and finally the mixture is dried into fine granules. A 12-day trial of this feed at a shrimp farm in Hawaii showed that the juvenile shrimp grew very fast after consuming this feed. They believe that shrimp seedlings can be employed and nutrition from two aspects, one is the feed itself, and the other is the microorganisms parasitized in the feed. It is also considered appropriate to promote this new type of feed in tropical areas rich in sugar cane, especially those small-scale shrimp farms, such as artificial sea cement ponds.
