In the mid-1930s, the German army had ripped its camouflage of complying with the Treaty of Versailles and quickly began to reorganize its armaments. It also invented the concept of “armored forces.” So there was a submachine gun on the Army's list of needs, but its type and model were not determined. Because until 1938, the German army there are still a lot of World War I left the MP18 submachine gun. Later, the German military proposed an official standard for submachine guns and demanded the development of a short-range submachine gun to meet the operational needs of mechanized infantry in armored vehicles and airborne operations. However, the original MP18Ⅰ was not suitable. In order to meet this operational need, Germany also designed an assault rifle, which later became the symbol of the German military operations during World War II weapons - 9 mm caliber MP38 submachine gun.
