On the issue of translation strategies, Liu Miqing has categorized the translation strategies into cutting, conversing, transposing, restituting, interpretating, blending and combining, extending, reversing, substituting, splitting, adding, omitting and repeating, recasting, and transplanting.After analyzing hundreds of Su Shi's lyric poems translated by Xu Yuanchong, based on the above categories and the features of lyric poem translation, the author mainly analyses one of the translation strategies-adding, which would be helpful in the translation practice of lyric poems.Addition is an approach that adds information other than what the original texts suggest.The purpose of doing so is to make the target text more clear, more readable, and closer to what the original text express.It could be further subcategorized into several types, including structural addition, logical addition, and background information addition as well as annotation.
