1993年11月9日,以年轻选手组成的中国乒乓球队一行13人,在领队胡炳权的带领下,出发奔赴欧洲,参加了在奥地利、克罗地亚、瑞典、芬兰举办的四次国际公开赛。这次访欧历时30天。面对众多欧洲强手,我们的年轻队员经受了考验,得到了锻炼,更重要的是,获得了与欧洲强手比赛的经验。 首站比赛 有得有失 这次访欧的首站是奥地利的林茨,所以,称为“林茨国际乒乓球公开赛”。比赛于11月11日开始,至11月14日结束,共赛4天。本次比赛共有32个国家和地区的121名运动员参加了角逐。国际乒联定此项赛事为A级比赛,只设男、女单打和男女双打四个比赛项目。公开赛的奖金总额为4万美元。欧洲男队除瑞典的瓦尔德内尔、佩尔森、卡尔松,法国盖亭,比利时塞弗,德国罗斯科夫,波兰格鲁巴,克罗地亚普
