OBJECTIVE: To study the necessity of donating whole blood pre-blood tests by studying the peripheral blood cell counts of unpaid blood donors. Methods From November 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, peripheral blood cell counts of all blood donors were tested to calculate the percentage of unqualified blood cell tests and statistical analysis was made. Results 452 blood donors performed blood cell counting test, 127 failed items, abnormal blood count accounted for 28% of donated blood, WBC abnormalities accounted for 62% of unqualified people, morphological abnormalities and blood donors were statistically significant. Conclusion In order to ensure the quality of blood and to ensure the health of blood donors, blood tests should also be carried out at the initial screening of blood donors when conditions permit.
