英国医院的病房,单间比较稀少,多数是较大的房间,在很大的房间内,摆设着许多病床,每张床四周挂着帘子,病房中男女混合居住。家属或者亲戚来医院探望,会带着各种各样的礼物,在带来病菌的同时,也会造成环境污染。在20世纪80年代,英国卫生部发布文件规定,要求各医院根据自身情况,每天只能安排1~2小时的探病时间,禁止给病人送花、自制食品,或者其他的礼物,尽可能将外界的病菌,阻挡在医院之外,以便保证医院的清洁环境。当初英国医院的病房,不给探视者提供单独座椅,到医院探望他们习惯坐
