涞源铜矿(原东风冶炼厂)一九七五年投产,由于连年亏损,于一九七九年关停。为了使下马厂获得新生,河北省有色金属公司决定充分利用附近社队群采铅锌矿石多的有利条件,利用原有设施和设备实现转产。在改造过程中,大搞修、配、改、代,把死物变活物。一些必须外购的设备,也千方百计买旧的,仅此一项,就比购置新设备节约11万元。整个改造工作做到了三省:利用旧厂房,节约了基建投资;利用旧设备,节省了设备投资,利用旧材料,节省了管、线开支。比新建同规模的选厂,节省投资130万元左右。该厂改造投产后,可年产铅含量100吨,锌含量900吨,实现利润20万元。这不仅使企业绝路逢生,也为群采矿石找到了销路。
