I. INTRODUCTION Geomechanical model tests were initiated in the 1960s and were first proposed by the Italian Institute of Modelling and Structural Experiments (ISMES) and have been rapidly developed in the 1970s as a new structural model test technique. It is a novel structural test method for stabilizing the foundation of a concrete dam built on a complex foundation. Similarly, using it to study the stability of underground mines, underground caverns and high slopes is also an effective means. In particular, to study the anti-sliding stability of high arch dam abutments, to study the development process and failure mechanism of the dam foundation rock mass instability, and the influence of bedrock deformation on the upper buildings, etc.
