“本土社会学”概念会让美国的社会学家感到莫名其妙,因为他们习以为常地认为美国的社会学就是代表着世界的社会学;然而,与其他国家相比,美国的社会学却又显得非常狭隘,它归根结底只能代表美国本土社会的特色。实际上每个民族的社会学都有其独特研究领域,法国、德国、英国、印度、南非、俄罗斯、巴西、葡萄牙和中国等国的社会学都各有其特色。由于社会学研究常常限于民族国家之内,并且将其作为分析研究的基本单位,各国社会学家创造出各具民族特色的社会学也不足为奇。
The notion of “indigenous sociology” baffles American sociologists as they used to think that American sociology was the sociology of the world; yet, compared with other countries, sociology in the United States appeared Very narrow, it ultimately can only represent the characteristics of the native American community. In fact, each nation’s sociology has its own unique field of research, and sociology in France, Germany, Britain, India, South Africa, Russia, Brazil, Portugal and China all have their own unique characteristics. Since sociological research is often confined to nation-states and used as the basic unit of analytical research, it is not surprising that sociologists in all countries have created sociaties with national characteristics.
