洛南-栾川构造带位于华北板块与秦岭造山带之间,它包括洛栾断裂带和断裂北侧的强变形带.断裂带内发育有韧性剪切带、叠瓦状脆性断层和双重构造等,是在同一构造背景下同一剪切带内不同层次的构造变形叠加.线理构造主要有矿物生长线理、拉长线理、皱纹线理、鞘褶皱等,指示了板块由SW→NE的运动学特征和汇聚过程.断裂带北侧的强构造带内规模不等的褶皱和逆断层有相同的展布方位和运动学极性,与洛栾断裂带小角度斜交;不同性质的构造组成有规律的构造图案,是板块斜向汇聚的的产物.古板块汇聚因子是:在西段汇聚方向为22°,汇聚方向与板块边界的夹角为73°;在东段汇聚方向为31°,汇聚方向与板块边界的夹角为82°.洛栾构造带强烈活动时期主要是372Ma,是秦岭造山带形成的早期,扬子板块与华北板块汇聚的大背景下,位于华北板块南部边缘的二郎坪弧后洋盆向华北大陆之下左旋斜向俯冲的结果.
