旅順中学的成績考查工作是做得比較好的。他們重視日常考查,廢除学期、期考,改行学季、季評,精簡考試科目,重視口試,在这些方面取得的經驗都值得各地学校参考。但是,他們有些教师的做法也还需要進一步研究。例如,有的教师在学季評分时結合学生平时的学習态度,把知識質量的考查和操行的評定混同起來(当然,做作業草率这一类还是应该結合的),这就不能客現地反映学生的知識情况。我們認为,明确目的,注意效果,对成績考查工作具有特別重要的意义。因此,首先应该注意考查的內容——注意选題。如果选題偏高偏低,或者不是最基本最重要的东西,就不会有好的效果,达到应有的目的。至于考查的方式方法,应該圍繞目的,注意多样化,如果單純为多提問、多評分而堂堂上綜合課,也是不恰当的。各地学校在参考这一經驗时,要从自己的实际出發,针对成績考查的目的,積極創造条件,加强平时考查,逐步改進工作,不要机械搬用。
