This article outlines the main features of carburizing and trickling carburizing. Described the rock drill parts as an example for industrial production furnace and process inspection and quality assurance measures. Four steel grades, DIN 17 CrNiMo 6, DIN 02 Mncr 5, DIN 34 crNiMo 6 and AISI 8620, are used for drip carburizing. The steels were carburized, hardened, seeded and microstructured. Determine the best process parameters. 259 furnace-mounted endothermic carburization and 187 furnace-mounted drip carburization were performed on the AlSI 8620 copper coupon to evaluate the results and efficiency of both methods. The costs of these processes are compared with the costs of industrial production outside the company. Additional costs can be saved thanks to improvements in furnace loading, process management and process standards.
