近代滇黔川边循道公会教育体系 ,主要凭借当地各民族的力量 ,使滇黔川 3省上万名青少年接受了规范的初等教育 ,使数万名当地群众完成了扫盲教育 ,为苗族、彝族培养出第一批高级知识分子。它的男女学生合校、双语教学、把学校办到山寨、大众扫盲教育、注重民族高等人才的培养 ,成就了我国近代教育的一个创举。
