要全面理解当代中国的历史,首先需要从新中国成立60年的历程中去寻找。60年,在人类的漫长发展过程中无疑是极其短暂的弹指瞬间,但就其60年的发展征程而言,当代中国所经历的变革和转折,说是“地覆天翻”、“震惊世人”亦不为过。当代中国的道路已被视为人类发展过程中的一个比较成功的模式,越来越受世人的关注。自然,这60年的道路绝非坦途,险滩暗礁以至困境之时确复不少。这60年是一段充满着希望也历经艰险的中华民族奋斗的历史,需要我们去理解它、总结它;毋庸置疑,要全面地理解当代中国的历史,还要走进她的历史深处,从近代百年来中国历史运动的演进中,从数千年中国历史文明的演进中,从近百年中西交流、冲突的互动与演进中,去寻找由昨日之中国发展为今日之中国的历史根因。限于篇幅,本组笔谈主要从新中国成立60年的某个时段或侧面,来反映当代中国曾走过的一段路程,给我们理解当代中国发展的历史,提供某些参考或借鉴;并以此组笔谈,作为本刊对共和国成立60周年的纪念。
