模具设计是由以往的经验积累,再加上工厂实践和小型试验发展起来的。为了降低模具设计的研究费用与模具的制造费用,正在研制无润滑与有润滑挤压的电子计算机辅助设计系统。“Battelle′s Columbus”实验室对热挤压工艺模具的电子计算机辅助设计与制造技术进行了若干研究工作。应用电子计算机辅助设计热挤压工艺的主要目的是:尽可能提出科学依据使模具设计程序合理化;通过减少试验与校正来提高模具的生产效率;确定模具设计的最佳特性,以获得最优的材料流动性与最大的生产率;减少模具设计和生产所需时间;在适当的时机采用有效的数控加工技术以降低生产成本;提高生产率和降低生产成本的最佳工艺参数。
