中国金属学会于6月8日至12日在北京召开了第一次全国工作会议。出席这次会议的有二十四个省、市、自治区科协、学会、冶金局(厅)、冶金研究所、学校等方面的负責同志及学会工作的专职干部100余人。会议是在全国科协及冶金工业部直接领导下召开的。这次会议的目的是:明确金属学会的任务与作用,交流学会工作經驗,讨论1959年工作規划,动員金属学会的力量,調动广大冶金工作者的积极性,发动群众,鼓足干劲,广泛地、深入地开展冶金工业之中的技术革命群众运动。为完成和超额完成1800万吨鋼的指标,大力发展銅、鋁生产和提前完成12年科学規划的任务而奋斗。
China Metal Society held its first national working conference in Beijing from June 8 to 12.
