上海商务总会是辛亥革命时期的重要资产阶级团体。辛亥革命前其部分成员逐渐看穿清政府“预备立宪”的假象,纷纷选择革命道路,加入中国同盟会,配合革命党人开展革命活动;在光复上海之役中,更是通过总会所控制的商团武装力量直接参与革命,促成上海光复,加速了革命高潮的到来;上海独立后,商务总会又为沪军都督府提供财政支持,最大程度地缓解了军政府面临的财政困难,为辛亥革命做出了杰出的贡献。
Shanghai Business Council is an important bourgeois group during the Revolution of 1911. Before the Revolution of 1911, some of its members gradually saw the illusion that the Qing government was “ready for constitutionalism.” They all chose the road of revolution, joined the Allied Association of China, and cooperated with the revolutionaries to carry out revolutionary activities. The fact that the armed forces of the commercial circles took part in the revolution directly contributed to the rejuvenation of Shanghai and accelerated the arrival of the revolutionary upsurge. After the independence of Shanghai, the commercial federation also provided financial support to the government of the Shanghai Military Region to minimize the financial difficulties the military government faces.
