The authors note with interest the article by Chalkley et al. On the measurement of vitamin D metabolites by smelters indicating that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D concentrations increase with simultaneous exposure to cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb). The authors also reported a significant association between lead concentrations in lead workers and serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, but the subjects were not exposed to cadmium
