美国电气与电子工程师协会(The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,Inc.简称IEEE)今年五月十三日在波士顿庆祝该协会成立一百周年。该协会系由AIEE美国电气工程师协会)及IRE(无线电工程师协会)于1963年联合而成。美国电气工程师协会创立于1884年,当时的领导人有著名的科学家爱迪生、贝尔等人。三十年代以后,在电工技术中已经难以把强电的电气工程和弱电的电子技术截然分开,因此,到了六十年代,美国的这两大学会合并成为IEEE。
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) celebrated its 100th anniversary in Boston on May 13 this year. The association was formed by the AIEE American Institute of Electrical Engineers) and the IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers) in 1963. American Institute of Electrical Engineers was founded in 1884, when the leaders of the famous scientists Edison, Bell and others. After the 1930s, it was hard to separate the strong electrical engineering from the weak electrical engineering in the field of electrical engineering. Therefore, in the 1960s, the two universities in the United States merged into an IEEE.
