The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council held a forum on working in Xinjiang from May 17 to May 19 in Beijing. Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang attended the meeting. Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao will make important speeches on doing well the work in Xinjiang in the new situation. Hu pointed out that doing a good job in Xinjiang is an inevitable requirement for realizing the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and a strategic choice for expanding the space for economic development in our country. We should do a solid job of long-term peace and stability in Xinjiang and promote the leapfrog development and long-term peace and security in Xinjiang. Efforts should be made to promote economic construction, accelerate the pace of economic development, speed up the establishment of a new type of rural social endowment insurance system
