In the fierce competition in the newspaper market, newspapers must obtain every way they can to survive their advertising proceeds. They must find ways to attract readers and raise the circulation of newspapers. In order to ensure that the newspaper reaches the readers in the shortest time and enhance the competitiveness of the newspaper, some newspapers spend tens of millions of dollars in purchasing advanced systems such as CTP, printing out newspapers in advance and issuing time in advance. The Yangtze River Daily opened up new avenues to break through the bottleneck in the news production process through the innovation and reengineering of the production process of news check production. With digital technology, for the first time, it was the first time that information technology was effectively implemented in the whole process of news production. Cooperative research and development to develop a “press and publication of efficient simultaneous digital calibration system,” spend very little money can reach the goal of early reporting, highlighting the unique advantages of time and achieved significant social and economic benefits. At the end of 2005, the State Press and Publication Administration put forward six changes in the newspaper industry in order to achieve “transformation from resource-consumption-dependent growth driven by investment to innovation-based growth driven by technology.” Changjiang Daily’s practices and experiences are in line with the “new growth model” advocated by the state and deserve the help of other newspapers. To this end, we interviewed Xiao Jianfu, director of the technology department of Changjiang Daily Newspaper Group.
