From the earliest stages of humankind, people dedicated themselves to using art to enrich their environment. Sometimes it is purely instinctual, driven by instinct, just as a child teases and plays - the initial observation of the world around him on paper; sometimes it is a show of the beauty of a particular beauty. This art is often called “folk art,” and we tend to think that it is exactly the same as local art and closely linked to the rural environment. When studying the folk arts of Yugoslavia, the two most important points to bear in mind are: the geographical location of the country and the historical background on which all ethnic groups depend.
