The establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa is a groundbreaking international event. No country has ever tried to complete the transition from dictatorship to democracy in such a way as to reconcile it with it while exposing the atrocities of former oppressors. Archbishop Tutu, who was named chairman of the Commission by former South African President Mandela, expounded in this article an ideal feeling of reconciliation.
