膜科学技术的发展已有100多年的历史。早在三、四十年代,人们就提出了电渗析膜、反渗透膜和超滤膜的概念,并用醋酸纤维素制造出了早期的人工肾,因而使膜科学技术引起了各国科学家的普遍关注。特别是近二十年以来,由于膜科学技术的飞速发展和应用领域的不断扩大,充分地显示了其巨大的经济效益和广泛的应用前景。但是随着膜科学技术的不断发展和从事该学科的工作者分布世界各地,导致了膜术语的不断产生和派生。因而,在使用中经常引起一些混乱,同语多意的现象时常发生。因此,如果在膜操作方面没有统一术语,将为该领域中广泛开展学术交流带来不便。所以,颁布一个统一的,为世界各地膜科技工作者
