TiN is one of the main non-metallic inclusions in ER50-G wire, which has a significant effect on the serviceability of the material. The heat treatment of ER50-G steel with about Ti content of about 0.16% was carried out using thermal field emission scanning electron microscopy. The critical precipitation temperature of TiN particles was about 1 549.6 ℃ based on the composition of the wire rod. Above the liquidus of the steel. It was found that the TiN particles were precipitated by ER50-G both in solid and liquid phases, but the larger size TiN particles were mainly precipitated in liquid state. Combined with the measurement of TiN particle size and the results of physicochemical phase analysis, In the ER50-G production, TiN particles precipitated in the molten steel is higher than the theoretical value, while the precipitated amount in the solid phase is lower than the theoretical value, so as to derive the actual precipitation curve of the TiN particles.
