焦菊隐,1905年12月11日出生于天津,著名戏剧家和翻译家,北京人民艺术剧院的创建人和艺术上的奠基人之一。从青年时代起就从事进步的戏剧活动,1930年创办了“中华戏曲专科学校”并任校长,致力于中国戏曲研究及教学改革。1935年至1938年留学法国,曾获巴黎大学文学博士学位,同年回到祖国,从事戏剧教学和导演工作。新中国成立以后,曾任北京师范大学文学院院长。1952年起,任北京人艺副院长、总导演和艺术委员会主任。导演代表作品《龙须沟》《蔡文姬》《茶馆》等。著有
Jiao Juyin, born December 11, 1905 in Tianjin, is a famous dramatist and translator, founder of Beijing People’s Art Theater and one of the founders of the arts. He has been engaged in dramatic activities since his youth. In 1930 he founded the “Chinese Opera Academy” and became the president of the school, devoting himself to the research and teaching reform of Chinese opera. From 1935 to 1938 studying in France, won a Ph.D. in Paris University, the same year returned to the motherland, engaged in theater teaching and director work.
