党的基层干部的代表、民政助理周国知,二十年如一日,为群众办实事,办好事。他千方百计让100多户住茅草房的群众,搬进了砖瓦屋的新居,自己的房子却四处透风。他为住房困难的家庭拍了一千多张照片,却没有为自己和家人留一张合影。他一次次向困难户慷慨资助,自己家庭却负债累累,他癌症晚期,为了节省医药费,拒绝住院治疗,并强忍病痛,坚持工作,最终病逝在与乡亲们谈话的椅子上。他常说的一句话:“上为国家分忧,下为百姓解愁。”他常算的一本账是让老百姓满意。
