形成于大西洋洋面上的一级飓风“桑迪”(Sandy),当地时间2012年10月24日下午登陆加勒比海牙买加,狂风暴雨袭击了古巴、多米尼加、巴哈马、海地等地,造成大量财产损失和60多人死亡。美东时间10月29日晚8时许(北京时间30日上午8时许),“桑迪”在美国新泽西海岸登陆,肆虐沿岸9个州,导致一些地方断水断电,人伤物毁。《洛杉矶时报》的数据显示,截至当地时间11月3日17点,美国全境因飓风“桑迪”造成的死亡人数已有113人,其中纽约州48人、新泽西州24人。本刊特邀家在新泽西的美籍华人撰文,描述飓风来袭时他们亲身经历的故事,而作者在灾难中表现出的乐观而不抱怨的心态,更让人称道。——编者
Hurricane Tier 1, formed on the Atlantic Ocean, landed in the Caribbean Jamaica on the afternoon of October 24, 2012, when heavy rains hit Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Haiti Property damage and more than 60 deaths. US Eastern Time at 8 o’clock on the October 29 (Beijing time on the 30th at 8 am), “Sandy ” landed on the coast of New Jersey, raging across the nine states along the coast, resulting in some places water and electricity, human injuries destroy. According to the Los Angeles Times, as of November 3 at 17:00 local time, the number of deaths due to Hurricane Sandy in the United States totaled 113, including 48 in New York State and 24 in New Jersey. The author’s Chinese-American author in New Jersey wrote an essay describing the stories they first experienced when the hurricane struck, and the author’s optimism rather than complaining attitude during the disaster was even more commendable. --editor
