被迟浩田总参谋长誉为“军校高师,齐鲁名将”的廖海光同志1915年9月26日生于湖南省炎陵(原名酃县)县。1930年11月投身革命,1931年加入中国共产党。1934年任湘赣红军学校四分校指导员;长征途中任红二军团直属队总支书记、十七团及步校政委;抗日战争和解放战争期间,先后任胶东军区十六团政委、海南地委书记兼军分区政委。1952年任福州军区政治部主任;1955年任福州军区
Liao Haiguang, hailed as Chief of Military Academy and Qilu by Chi Haotian's chief of staff, was born on September 26, 1915 in Yanling County (formerly Yijian County) in Hunan Province. In 1930 November to join the revolution, in 1931 to join the Chinese Communist Party. In 1934, he served as an instructor of the Fourth Corps of the Red Army School of the Hunan and Jiangxi Provinces. During the Long March, he was directly under the secretary general of the Second Corps of the Red Army, under the 17th Regiment and political commissar of the Corps.
