It is generally believed that the earliest canal in China was the poor King Wufu who dug in 486 BC and was a section of the Grand Canal. Now, a large number of textual research shows that the earliest canals in our country should be Xuxi, which is 20 years earlier than Zigou and has a history of more than 2500 years. Starting from Suzhou, Xu Creek passes through Taihu Lake, passes through Yixing, Gaochun, crosses Shijiu Lake and infuses the Yangtze River in Wuhu. The total length is over 100 kilometers. Excavation of this artificial canal has greatly shortened the journey from Suzhou to Chaohu in Anhui Province.
