Abstracts in EnglisSome Applications of the Bootstrap to Diagnosisof Problems in EngineerinQu Liangsheng Wu Songta（Mechanical Diagnosis and Cybetics Institute, Xian Jiaotong University Xian, 710049rAbstract This paper deals with some applications of the bootstrap technique to engineering diagnosis. It is well known that the bootstrap is the integration of numerical simulation with classical statistical methods to remove the obstacles to the application of statistical tools to engineering. This paper reviews its basic principle and attempts to apply it to solve some diagnostic problems in engineering, such as the quantitative evaluation of diagnostic inconsistency, the diagnostic features and the pseudo-distances.
