I Am Dusting the Piano Keys
我正在打扫琴键
Arthur Rubinstein, Polish-born American pianist, wasknown for his interpretation of the works of Chopin. One day while he was practicing, a woman called Arthur Rubinstein’s home and asked to speak with the composer. As Rubinstein disliked such disturbances, the woman was told by his servant, Francois, that he wasn’t home.“But I hear him playing,” the woman persisted. “You are wrong, madame,” Francois cavalierly replied.“I am just dusting the piano keys.”
亚瑟·罗宾斯坦是波兰出生的美国钢琴家，他以诠释萧邦的作品而闻名。一天，当他练习时，一位女人到他府上登门拜访，要求同这位作曲家谈话。因为罗宾斯坦不喜欢这样的打扰，所以他的仆人法朗索娃告诉那位女人说，罗宾斯坦不在家。“但是我听见他弹琴了，”那位女人坚持说。“你错了，夫人，”法朗索娃傲慢地说，“我刚才正打扫琴键。”

In the world of science fame and honor to persons had no value. One day, when a writer for a newspaper tried to ask Marie about herself, her thoughts and her beliefs, she answered him, “In Science we must be interested in things, not in persons.” Much of the real character and spirit of this unusual woman is found in these few words. One evening, at a big party, a friend asked her if she would like to see the King of Greece. She answered in her simple manner, “I do not see the value of it.” Then, seeing that she had hurt the feelings of her friend, she quickly added, “But... but... of course, I shall do whatever you please. Please do just as you said.”

After protracted bargaining over the terms, Shaw elected not to sell. “The trouble is, Mr Goldwyn,” he dryly declared, “you are interested only in art and I am interested only in money.”
