Our textbooks based mainly on “classic” stick to the intensive reading mode, often speaking one week’s text or even longer. One semester comes down with very few readings and can no longer fit the era of information explosion today. Recently, some famous writers such as Lu Xun made a sensation in the news of the “Great Take-back” in secondary school Chinese textbooks, which led the Ministry of Education to come out with a rumor. Now that the fumes are tentative, there is probably no “big retreat” issue. However, the issues involved in this news are not well discussed. Classical writers such as Lu Xun should never occupy middle school Chinese
