北京建国门立交桥的西南角,屹立着一座古老的高台建筑。台上陈设着大型铜铸天文仪器,台下有紫微店、晷影堂等附属建筑群,这就是驰名中外的文化古迹——北京古观象台。北京古观象台是历史遗珍,是摆设在首都交通枢纽处的瑰宝,是中国天文学悠久传统和东西方文化交往光辉成就的象征,又是中国从科学技术史发展高峰跌入低谷的见证。它是一座丰碑,记录了中国古天文学的荣辱兴衰;它是一抹重彩,加厚了北京这座文化古都的底韵。
Beijing Jianguomen overpass in the southwest corner, stands an ancient high-rise building. On the stage is a large bronze cast astronomical instrument with a set of satellite buildings such as Ziwei shop and Ying Yingtang under the stage. This is known as the Beijing Ancient Observatory. Beijing Ancient Observatory is a historical heritages and is a gem located in the capital transportation hub. It is a symbol of the glorious achievements of the long tradition of astronomy and the cultural exchanges between the East and the West as well as a testimony that China plunged from the peak of the development of science and technology to its lowest level. It is a monument that records the rise and fall of ancient astronomy in China. It is a touch of red carpet and thickens the bottom rhyme of Beijing’s ancient capital.
