Low-dose stimulus (Hormesis effect) is a special phenomenon different from traditional toxicology dose-effect relationship, refers to the body contaminated with low doses of some stimuli appear stimuli, and showed high-dose conditions Inhibit the reaction. Research shows that many pollutants exhibit Hormesis effects on the body at low concentrations. The research results of ecotoxicity of high-dose pollutants exposure have been difficult to apply to the risk assessment of low concentrations of pollutants in the environment. This article intends to summarize the research progress of Hormesis effect (including the history of Hormesis effect and the possible mechanism of action). The influence of Hormesis effect on the risk assessment of contaminants is also discussed. Finally, the future research direction of Hormesis effect and its application are prospected.
